1. Your rights at a glance
If you are in the UK, EEA or a comparable jurisdiction, you have the following rights:
- Right to be informed — about how we use your data (see our Privacy Policy).
- Right of access — obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — request deletion of your data.
- Right to restrict processing — limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
- Rights related to automated decision-making — we do not make solely automated decisions with legal effects about you.
- Right to withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.
2. How to exercise your rights
You can exercise many rights directly in the app: edit your profile to correct data, adjust location and marketing permissions in settings, or delete your account to trigger erasure. For access or portability requests, email our Data Protection Officer at dpo@meetrar.com with the subject “Data Rights Request”.
3. Verifying your identity
To protect your data we may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We will only ask for information necessary to confirm that the request is genuinely yours.
4. Response times & fees
We respond to rights requests within one month. This period may be extended by up to two further months for complex or numerous requests, in which case we will tell you. Requests are free of charge; we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse manifestly unfounded or excessive requests, as permitted by law.
5. Account & data deletion
When you delete your account, your profile becomes unavailable to other users immediately and we begin deleting or anonymising your personal data. Some data may be retained where necessary to meet legal obligations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes or enforce our terms, for the minimum period required.
6. Legal bases & special-category data
We rely on the legal bases described in our Privacy Policy. Because meetraR may involve data revealing sexual orientation, we process such special-category data on the basis of your explicit consent or because you have manifestly made it public on your profile. You can withdraw consent by editing your profile or deleting your account.
7. International transfers
Where we transfer personal data outside the UK/EEA, we use approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
8. Complaints
We hope to resolve any concern you raise. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), ico.org.uk. In the EEA you may contact the authority in your country of residence.
